The Tolly Group & Sifos Technologies; PSE Testing Comparison
The increasing use of PD equipment such as VoIP and wireless access points has to assume that the selected Power Sourcing Equipment works to the 802.3af standard. Recent test by Sifos Technologies shows that you have to look deeper into a PSE rather than just the data sheet. The Tolly Group worked closely with Sifos Technologies to study two different PSE's extensively and to report on observed ranges in performance in categories such as Static Power Delivery, Transient Power Delivery, Safety, Power Management Behaviors, and Interoperability Characteristics. Approximately 50 different parameters were analyzed with many surprising results.
