Innovative diagnostics elminate false alarms

Zellweger Analytics has extended its range of fixed gas detection systems for semiconductor manufacture with the launch of MIDAS®, a new range of highly cost-effective, networkable, flammable and toxic gas sensors. Designed for flexibility of installation, reliability of operation and low cost of ownership, the new range is a significant addition to the company’s world-leading range of Chemcassette® parts-per-billion analyzers for the semiconductor industry, marketed under the MDA Scientific brand.

With the launch of MIDAS®, Zellweger Analytics completes its offering for the protection of plant, processes and people throughout the critical areas of the modern semiconductor and electronics fabrication plant where extremely toxic gases are used or generated in the production of silicon chips, LCD flat screen panels and mobile phones. The company’s range of spectrophotometric, catalytic, electrochemical and Chemcassette® sensor technologies and control systems means it is uniquely able to provide a complete, optimised solution for all requirements including clean-room, sub-fab, gas storage and other sampling points.

MIDAS® uses a remote sampling system of up to 30m (100 feet) for fast and reliable response to the presence of all gases used or generated in the electronics industry. Gas readings and event data are viewed on the brightly lit, intuitive, icon driven LCD control panel. MIDAS® can monitor over 35 gases including the ‘traditional’ industrial gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, oxygen – as well as the more ‘exotic’ gases which are often much harder to detect such as arsine, phosphine, diborane, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride, and other halogenated chemicals. These highly toxic and corrosive gases have very low, mandatory alarm levels (
